lyrics
Zachary Jones
(words and music Roy Jones)
Who is this Zachary Jones?
Where does he come from?
Six foot of skin and bone
And a vision of the nuclear bomb
He never went to public school
He learnt his lessons on the dole queue
A rebel and a fool
But his message was clear and true
He said:
"This is the time of changes
Be careful what you do
Because there is a Law above the State
And as you sow you reap so too.
Learn to reason for yourself
Not like a mirror of The Sun or the TV set
You'll see we've got a lot of work to do"
Where does he come from?
Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary,
Zachary Jones
Who is this Zachary Jones?
Where did he learn to fight?
And was it poverty or money
Which taught him wrong from right?
Oh the night the policeman came
They locked him in a cell
His tears they fell like rain
They turned his world into a living hell
But he said:
"This is the time of changes
Be careful what you do
Because there is a Law above the State
And as you sow you reap so too.
Learn to reason for yourself
not like a mirror of The Sun or the TV set
You'll see we've got a lot of work to do"
Where does he come from?
Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary,
Zachary Jones
Racism is fear and projection
Harnessed by Power for subjugation
The only solution is a personal revolution
Open the heart to the goodness in everyone
Transcend the judgement
Give everyone a chance to be better
Awaken to Life's dignity
Celebrate our shared humanity
All Life is connected
All Life is connected
All Life is connected
Where does he come from?
Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary, Zachary,

Zachary Jones is dedicated to the memory of Raymond (Reds) Harvey
who worked with Red Beat during the Wheel of Change and
Red White and Phoenix phases. Raymond, who passed a couple
of years ago, co-produced the German single,
Power Reflex/Strangers at Midnight with Terry Barham who was
famous for his work with UB40. He was a Rastafarian who
introduced Cheez to the line up and supported us and shared his
networks with us. I always remember him saying to me that
Heaven isn't somewhere we go when we die, it's what we create
for ourselves here and now on this Earth.
Thank you Raymond.
