"A pure bright mirror", is a quote from the Lotus Sutra which among other things explains the concept of the basic states of being or consciousness shared by all human beings from Hell (terrible suffering and low energy) to Buddhahood (a high life-state characterised by wisdom, courage, compassion and life-force). The Chinese sage T'ien t'ai went on to explain, based on his study of the Lotus Sutra, that each world or state of being contains the potential for all the others at the same time. The practical consequence of this observation is understanding that even when in the depths of suffering we can reveal our highest life state instantaneously.
